Dental Implant Treatment
Dental Implantology is a branch of dentistry dealing with dental implants. A dental implant is a rigid metallic structure that resembles a tooth root. It is inserted into the jaw bone ( upper or lower ) in place of a missing tooth/teeth. The rigid fixture is usually made up of metal; Titanium/ titanium alloys.
Difference between dental implants and bridges.
|SNO||DENTAL IMPLANTS||TOOTH SUPPORTED BRIDGES|
|1.||Single missing tooth = one implant and cap. ( natural teeth remain untouched)||Single missing tooth = 2 natural teeth will be ground and you will receive three caps ( bridge).|
|2.||Cost of one implant = Cost of one Zirconia bridge for a single missing tooth.||More economical ( metal-ceramic bridges)|
|3.||Best esthetics||Slightly compromised|
|4.||Easy maintenance||Multiple caps therefore more maintenance.|
|5.||Long-lasting||May require replacement after a few years.|
